Where to buy: maternity clothes in Dubai

September 7, 2016

Ahhhh, pregnancy. As well as getting your head around the impending arrival, your body is doing all sorts of crazy things, namely getting bigger. This means that, while the LAST thing you feel like doing is a mall trawl, it’s time to buy some maternity clothes.

I’ll be honest here, Dubai is pretty disappointing on this front, with high street stores frequently moving the location of their collections for mums-to-be, leaving you (okay, me), frustrated, tired and wearing leggings. Again.

To save your hitting up every mall in town, I’ve done the leg work for you, rounding up the shops and websites that can clothe that bump, those boobs, and more.

H&M

What to expect? H&M is worth a visit for the maternity vests alone (usually a pack of two for Dhs99). Other offerings include jeans – very much on the skinny side – cotton dresses, t-shirts and jumpers, all at pretty reasonable prices.

Where? Deira City Centre and Ibn Battuta branches, with a small range in the kid’s section in Dubai Mall.

Mothercare

What to expect? A comprehensive range of long-sleeved tees, jeans (with over-the-bump elastic), casual dresses, nightwear, and nursing bras, from supersoft to under-wired. It’s marked up a fair bit from the UK, but there are regular, and generous, sales.

Where? Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Mall branches have the best choice.

Mango

What to expect? The Spanish brand has launched a small maternity line, with jeans (Dhs199), a basic black dress, and t-shirts.

Where? Only available at Dubai Mall, but you can buy online too.

Old Navy

What to expect? Hidden around a corner in the kids’ section is a range of maternity wear – think soft jersey maxi dresses, jeans, and printed tops in the same fabric as the main womenswear line. Everything is well-priced, and there are frequent sales.

Where? Festival City.

Seraphine

One of the most stylish maternity stores has arrived in Dubai (K Middy was a fan), boasting wrap dresses, formal wear, swimwear and gorgeous basics, all in a beautiful shop. The only downside is the credit card bill, but the odd piece will lift your whole pregnancy wardrobe.

Where? Festival City and online at Blush & Bloom.

Marks & Spencer

What to expect? The UK fave offers classics such as cotton nursing dresses, long-line vests, leggings, bras and nightwear, and it’s available online too. Expect to pay around Dhs300 for a good quality dress, but I’ve spotted them in the sale for Dhs75.

Where? Festival City has the best range, but online is your safest bet. Delivery is free on orders over Dhs399.

Destination Maternity

What to expect? Full of everything you need, from stretchy jeans to supportive nightwear, these dedicated stores have the basics and more. There’s an impressive range of denim (don’t discount the Jessica Simpson line because, well, it’s by Jessica Simpson…) and multi-packs of vests, knickers and leggings.

Where? Dubai Mall, Marina Mall and Mirdif City Centre.

TKD

What to expect? A must-go for women with D+ cups, TKD has top quality (and pretty) nursing bras, swimwear, support vests and nightwear from the likes of Hot Milk and Cake Maternity. Be sure to get properly fitted by their experts, as your back measurement can increase along with your cup size during pregnancy (fun times).

Where? Town Centre Mall, Jumeirah.

Smitten

What to expect? Home to gorgeous gifts and clothes for babies as well as mums-to-be, Smitten is all about glam rather than the basics, with accessories and dresses sourced by owner Roshni, plus essentials like baby-carriers for when your little one arrives.

Where? Marina Mall.

ONLINE

Can’t face leaving the house? I don’t blame you. These websites will deliver your new wardrobe to your door or desk.

ASOS

The range is huge, with own-brand and designer labels, and delivery usually takes a couple of weeks (and it’s free). However, the fabrics are sometimes a little disappointing and I don’t believe for a minute that the models are pregnant – they just look like Margot Robbie with a football up her jumper. Saying that, I bought two black cotton dresses that have served me really well during pregnancy and beyond, and the sizes go up to UK20.

Blush & Bloom

This UAE-based company sells beautiful pieces by the likes of Isabella Oliver, Elle Macpherson and Seraphine (including dresses for pregnant bridesmaids), with lingerie, nightwear, nursing pillows, belly wraps and swimwear. It’s easy to use, the service by owner Loretta is outstanding, and there’s free delivery on orders over Dhs300.

Mini Exchange

Packed with everything from Pampers to Nutribullets, this online store also sells maternity wear, including Spanx, Isabella Oliver, nursing bras by Freya, the famed Belly Bandit, and Mama Mio products to keep stretch marks at bay. They also pride themselves on the best prices, so you’ll often see designer items in the sale. Result.

DISCOUNT CODE! Use this link: Mothership15 to get 15% off at Mini Exchange (excluding Pampers, Aptamil and select strollers).

Mumzworld

Go to the Mumz section of this popular (and enormous) website and you’ll find maternity clothes including essentials, jeans, underwear and pretty dresses. While you’re online, add a few baby must-haves to your basket – these guys have products and brands that no-one else in the city sells.

Next

The high street stalwart has a selection of maternity clothes including printed dresses, jeans, swimwear, smart tops and nursing vests, with super reasonable prices and free delivery on orders over Dhs120. Best of all, shipping is done via Aramex and usually takes 3-4 days.

Landmark

With BabyShop and Max offering plenty of maternity wear – usually t-shirts, maxis and pjs priced from Dhs35 – you can shop across all Landmark stores on one website, meaning you can also buy bottles, baby clothes and super sexy stuff like disposable pants for after the birth.

The Mommy Co

One of the newest websites in Dubai, The Mommy Co offers dresses, separates and nightwear, but the maxis are the highlight, with lovely printed soft cotton in one-size-fits-all, so it grows with you.

Don’t forget… Facebook groups such as British Mums Dubai and Mums & Bumps Dubai often have members selling their whole pregnancy wardrobe, so if you find someone the same size as you then go for it!!

  6. Wow, this post is too helpful. The hardest part of pregnancy is to find the perfect maternity clothes.
For me its personally really hard to walk to different shops for different type of clothes. Its pretty tiring. I would rather prefer to go to Mother Care directly and grab all that i love at one go . Apart from the suggested, i feel Mother care at City Center, Deira has some good collection as well.
