THREE TO TRY: new children’s stores in Dubai you’ll love

May 15, 2016

A trio of adorable independent stores in Dubai to get your heart aflutter, from feel-good clothes, to versatile furniture

1. Nos Nos
I fell for this company before I even saw the products; their branding is gorgeous. And the clothes, toys and accessories don’t disappoint. Co-founded by Dubai-based mums Sandra, who has a MBA and worked in real estate and Twakniqua, a grad of Parsons New School of Design in NYC and former buyer for Saks, online store Nos Nos (which means ‘half half’ in Arabic) is rather special. Not only are the pieces super cute, but everything is handpicked because the brands give something back, with the duo giving priority to designers with a conscience who work to make a positive impact on societies in need. As Sandra says, “As mothers, we feel compelled to be a part of something bigger”.
From stocking companies who support Fairtrade and indigenous communities, to working with brands who donate turbans to children who have lost their hair due to illness, Nos Nos is not only offering products you can’t find anywhere else in the UAE, but helping you shop in a responsible way.

My most wanted…
Noe & Zoe green cactus onesie (Dhs114)

Green cactus onesie-2

Lali Molly Dress (Dhs205)

MOLLY DRESS

Dondolo sailboat dress (Dhs322)

Every piece is hand-stitched by single mothers in Colombia, and for each sold through Dondola another article of clothing is donated to a child in poverty.

2. ISMEE

I spotted Ismee founders Chee and Leeanne at the Ripe Market and practically ran over, totally besotted with the cool collection. Think monochrome, penguins and Batman, all unisex and oh so modern. They’re dressing Dubai’s coolest kids, and stay tuned to their Facebook page to see where they’re popping up next.

3. SPROUT

The only bricks and mortar shop on my little list, Sprout describes itself as a concept store-y. Upstairs at Town Centre mall on Beach Road, it’s a beautifully designed space, with an emphasis on sustainable, organic products with multi uses. What does that actually mean? Bamboo cotton so soft I want all my clothes to be made of it and awesome versatile furniture like Bobles. I bought Phoebe the red dress, but was seriously tempted by some PJs and stripy dungarees. And a little grey jumpsuit…

  1. Oh wow – these really are cute outfits for kids. Love them all! But as usual, think the prices here a quite steep compared to sales back home in the States.

  2. Sounds super. Something about baby clothes that gets us drooling…everytime!
